Our goal is to supply the taxpayers with a fair and accurate assessment on all Real and Personal Property in a professional and courteous manner that assures public confidence. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Assessor Brad Schaufler at any of the numbers listed here.
It is the responsibility of the taxpayers to report to the Assessor's office a list of all personal property they are in possession of each year beginning January 1st through May 31st. Failure to report by the May 31st deadline will result in a 10% late assessment penalty.
A homestead is a property that is used as your principal place of residence and you are the owner of record. You may be eligible for up to a $350.00 dollar credit on your real estate taxes. To apply for a Homestead Credit come by the Assessor's office and fill out a form. Once you have applied for the credit, you do not have to reapply unless you buy a new home or move.
100% Disabled or over 65 Freeze
If you are 65 years of age or older or if you are a 100% disabled, then you may qualify for a freeze on your real estate taxes. This freeze is placed on your principal place of residence that already has the Homestead Credit on it. If you qualify for this freeze, then come by the Assessor's office and fill out a form. You will also need to provide a copy of your documentation to verify your age or date of disability.
